Nutella-filled cupcakes with Nutella buttercream frosting


Notes

  • I adapted this recipe from My Baking Addiction
  • Add heavy cream 1 tablespoon at a time until the buttercream is at your preferred consistency
  • If you can't find hazelnuts, you can use any kind of hazelnut chocolate (candy bar, truffle, etc.)

NUTELLA CUPCAKES


INGREDIENTS

Cake

  • Enhanced Chocolate Cupcake recipe

Filling

  • 1 13-ounce jar of Nutella

Frosting

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 13-ounce jar of Nutella
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3.5 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 6 tablespoons heavy cream


DIRECTIONS

Filling

  • Core cupcakes
  • Fill with Nutella using piping tool

Frosting

  • Combine butter and Nutella in a large stand mixing bowl; mix on low-medium until creamy (5 minutes)
  • Gradually beat in powdered sugar until well-blended
  • Add vanilla and heavy cream. Beat on high until frosting is smooth (3 minutes)
  • Beat on high until smooth and creamy (7-10 minutes)
  • Pipe onto cupcakes and top with halved hazelnuts
